Football Friday College Edition

Another Football Friday upon us:

What I will be watching this weekend in college football
16-5 striaght up selections
8-12-1 against the spread

Florida @ Alabama 3:30 CBS
Alabama -14.5 Over/Under 52
This would go a long way if Will Muschamp and the Gators could pull off the upset. Its a tall task and one that the Gators havent done since 1998; and thats win in Bama. Florida relies on pounding the rock. The trouble for the Gators is they will be facing the #1 run defense in the land. The Gators struggled last weekend needing extra frames to beat Kentucky. Kentucky was able to throw the ball all over the Gator secondary. Amari Cooper, the talented Bama wideout, who may be the best in the country could have a field day. I expect the Gators to hang around. They will have some success running the ball and will be able to control the clock. But the Tide’s skill players are to much for the Gators and will make more than enough plays.
My prediction
Alabama 28 Florida 16
Lean Under 52

Mississippi St @ LSU 7:00 ESPN
LSU -10 Over/Under 50
Another SEC matchup and another where the road team hasnt left with a victory since the 90’s. Miss St hasnt gone to Death Valley and won since 1999. They will try and erase that this weekend. This could be the signature win for Dan Mullen. He may be bringing the best Bulldog team to the Bayou in a long time. The Bulldogs have a balanced offense and will be facing an inexperienced quarterback for the Tigers. However, this is Death Valley, this is Les Miles, and this is a more athletic Tiger team. Dan Mullen’s signature win will be put on hold as LSU will take care of business in there first SEC test.
My prediction
LSU 30 Miss St 17
Lean LSU -10

Oklahoma @ West Virginia 7:30 FOX
Oklahoma -7 Over/Under 58.5
I had the opportunity to watch the Mountaineers last week at Maryland. And their offense is fun to watch. The troublesome thing for the Mountaineers that I noticed is there quarterback Clint Tricket who has been fantastic is getting killed. Now the Mountaineer offensive line has to get ready for a Sooner dline that can get to the quarterback. If West Virginia can give Tricket some time, he can make plays on the Sooner secondary. The Sooner secondary is opportunistic and causes some turnovers but they can be thrown on. The Sooners will be without top running back Keith Ford due to an injury. This will be the most fun game of the weekend. Both teams are going to move the ball and score. Oklahoma is going to be tested but the dline will cause enough havoc on Tricket, it will force him into a costly turnover and the Sooners will escape.
My prediction
Oklahoma 37 West Virginia 31
Lean over 58.5

Clemson @ Florida St 8:00 ABC
Florida St -20 Over/Under 63.5
Criminal Jameis Winston will be suspended for the first half for the Seminoles. Clemson may have a better defense than they did last year and the Noles offense with or without the criminal playing quarterback is not as good. However, the Clemson offense lost to much from last year to go to Tallahassee and pull off the upset. They will hang around for 3 quarters thanks to their dline but the Noles will pull away late.
My prediction
FSU 38 Clemson 20
Lean under 63.5

Miami @ Nebraska 8:00 ESPN2
Nebraska -7 Over/Under 58.5
Fifteen years ago, this would have been a highly talked about matchup. These days, not so much. The Huskers rebounded from the almost disaster against McNeese State with an impressive performance on the road at Fresno St. Both teams will be looking for resume building wins. Nebraska really needs this one for the Big Ten as a whole. This will be an interesting game. The home field will make the difference for the Huskers. They will find success with Ameer Abdullah and Tommy Armstrong on the ground and make enough defensive stops against Duke Johnson and the Miami offense. The Big Ten will finally have a decent win.
My prediction
Nebraska 28 Miami 23
Lean Miami +7
